3 arrested in Aalo murder case

AALO/NAHARLAGUN, Jul 04: In connection with the murder case of late Minyom Pakam, the Aalo Police has arrested 3 people identified as Tamon Ketan (50), Kaling Siram (30) and Obang Tabi (41), said West Siang Superintendent of Police Sharad Darade on Monday.

West Siang SP Darade said as per preliminary enquiry of the incident and information gathered from the witnesses, the Aalo Police has registered a case (no. 34/2022 U/S-302 IPC) and successfully arrested three persons for their alleged involvement in the killing. A few suspension sticks have been seized from the spot, the SP said.

“Four persons arrived at a restaurant near Patum bridge on July 2 last at around 11 am, where they shared alcohol and during an altercation, Pakam was physically beaten up which may be the cause of the death,” the SP informed.

The alleged accused have been under 5-day police remand. Further action will be taken after receiving the post-mortem report, the police official added.

The West Siang Police chief said, “The prime accused, Tamon Ketan, is a habitual offender. Already, there are two cases registered against him at the Rumgong police station in Siang district.”

The matter is under investigation, he further said.

Meanwhile, the Lobom Welfare Society (LWS) has vehemently condemned the “brutal, gruesome and cold-blooded murder” of Minyom Pakam, 35, who was a resident of Biru village in Aalo under West Siang.

LWS claimed that Tamon Ketan, 50 years, son of Tatin Ketan from Pangkeng under Rumgong in Siang district, is the “main accused”, who is a “record history-sheeter”.

“We appeal to the families, relatives of the main accused and for that matter every one to desist from shielding the main accused so that the law takes its own course. Such criminals do not have any place in the civilised society and need to be awarded the severest and exemplary punishment for the most heinous crime. No one should interfere in its smooth trial and no attempt whatsoever is made to give it a communal overtone as the crime has been committed between the individuals,” the LWS appealed in a statement.

Lobom Welfare Society has appreciated the Aalo Police for their swift action in arresting the alleged murderers promptly.

“Their utmost sincerity and dedication in the line of duty is unparalleled. We sincerely hope that Aalo Police will ensure free and fair inquiry and will file charge-sheet at the earliest under appropriate sections so that such criminals are handed out the severest punishment,” the statement, issued by Hento Karga, president, LWS and LWS general secretary Doge Kamduk, said.

Lobom Welfare Society while expressing faith and belief in the justice delivery system, appealed that “no interested individual or party shall take up any such step which shall jeopardize the investigation or trial as well as maintenance of peace and harmony in the society”.
