ANSU’s 15-day ultimatum to govt to make PRC mandatory for APPSC exams

ITANAGAR, Jul 26: After expiry of its earlier 25 days ultimatum, the All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) on Tuesday again served 15 days ultimatum to the state government over the various unmet demands which included making the Permanent Residential Certificate (PRC) mandatory for the candidates appearing in any kind of examinations conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC).

Addressing the media person here at APC, president ANSU Nabam Dodum, said the crucial issues such as making PRC mandatory of PRC were left unaddressed by the state government which need prompt intervention.

The ANSU would not negotiate on the PRC issue, said Dodum. More importantly, implementation of the policy would benefit the indigenous aspirant candidates of the state, he added.

ANSU further said that the many key demands of union were left unheard which included compulsory inclusion of regional topics such as Arunachal Pradesh in specific and Northeast India in general in APPSC examinations, setting up a dedicated appraisal and grievance redressal cell to address any examination-related grievances, mandatory upholding of the 1:3 ratio for viva voce, and the criteria for appointing the chairman and members of the APPSC.

In recent APPSC 2020-21 examinations, the standard ratio of 1:3 was not maintained as only 141 candidates were called for viva voce against 111 posts, which is illogical in its own nature of recruitment process, cited ANSU.

Stating the order issued by the APPSC on 8 July about the three-member grievances management team for examination-related issues, ANSU said, the APPSC order did not specify whether it is a permanent set up or a temporary to address any grievances related to examination.
