Gollo John and Taru Richo, two talented Para-Karate players from Arunachal Pradesh, have made their state proud by winning gold and silver medals at the All India Karate Championship 2024. The championship was held in Panchkula, Haryana, from August 16 to 18, 2024.
Gollo John, who is visually impaired, and Taru Richo, who is orthopedically impaired, demonstrated their skills and determination in the individual blindfold and wheelchair Kata categories, respectively. Their impressive performance earned them top honors in the Divyang category.

The Paralympic Association of Arunachal (PAA) has congratulated Gollo John and Taru Richo on their achievement and appealed to the state government to provide greater support and facilities for Divyangjan sportspersons. The PAA believes that with proper support, Arunachal Pradesh’s Para sportspersons can excel in paralympic sports and bring glory to the state and nation.
The association has also announced plans to develop a roadmap for Arunachal Pradesh’s Divyangjan athletes to participate in the summer Paralympic Games in 2028 and 2032. With the state’s rich talent pool and the PAA’s support, Arunachal Pradesh is poised to make a mark in the world of Para sports.
