BJP observed June 25 as black day in view of emergency declared by then PM Indira Gandhi government

ITANAGAR Jun 25: Bharatiya Janata Party State Unit remembered 25th June wherein the emergency was declared  in 1975 and since then the is celebrated as  Black day along with other parts of India stating that it was historic day for the India.

The BJP spokesperson and former Minister Dr. Mahesh Chai while addressing media persons here today at press club and said the 25th June 1975 could not be forgotten by any Indian, because the 25th June is being known as a black in democratic India.  Forty seven years back on 25th June 1975 the then President Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed due to internal disturbances under Article 352 of the Constitution of India on the recommendations of the PM Indira Gandhi led government has declared an Emergency in country and claimed that the emergency was declared due to prevailing internal disturbance in India. Which was not true main reason was Raj Narayan case Verdict. He added.  

There is a system to impose emergency in the country but then prime Minister Indira Gandhi also does not follow the system and advises the president for implementation emergency in nation.  He observed. 

The 21 month long emergency started from 25th June 1975 to 21st March 1977 and the emergency destroyed the democracy setup and democratic institutions and created darkness all over India which will never be forgotten. We remember the great heroes who fought to protect Indian democracy and Constitutional values,” the BJP Spokesman said.

He also informed that during the emergency using Prime Minister power Indira Gandhi has detain or arrested many political leaders of opposition party and also those who opposed raise voice against on the emergency without any reason. 

PM Indira Gandhi declared internal emergency, suspended all fundamental rights, ordered the arrest of opposition leaders and curtailed freedom of the press, and also imposed band many organization, Human rights violation was also done reported. He claimed.

During the emergency more than 140000 persons have been arrested or detained who oppose the emergency and said that the emergency is the darkest chapter of India’s history. Dr. Chai added.

During this time, fundamental rights guaranteed under the Constitution were suspended. He further said,
