Capital police busted Drug Racket: 5 arrested

BANDERDEWA, MAY 21: The Capital police on Friday has busted a drug racket at interstate bordering Assam and has been able to arrest five persons with seizure of a huge consignment of country banned drug substances (Heroin) from their possession.

 Addressing the media here at Banderdewa Police station, Naharlagun SDPO Rike Kamsi inform that on 20/05/2021, from a reliable source which was engaged by Banderdewa police station Officer Incharge Inspector Tadu Hassang informed him that one main Peddler has recently brought huge quantity of drugs (Suspected Heroin) from Nagaon, Assam. The drugs brought were to be supplied in Itanagar Capital Region. After getting the tip off, Police team of PS Banderdewa led by Insp Tadu Hassang consisting of ASI Joram Tam, HC SK Jha, HC (SB) T Rigom, HC G Tang, HC AN Yadav, Ct Tage Sala, CT T Bomdom, Ct D Gupta, L/Ct W Tessia, and L/Ct C Tangjang under the close supervision of SP Capital and SDPO NLG raided the Hotel Holiday Inn, Banderdewa. After a detailed search was conducted along with Executive Magistrate Ritu Tawe, CO Banderdewa and recovered and seized 21 packets of suspected Heroin of worth Rs. 10 Lacs, a cash amounting to Rs. 20, 300 /- and 5 nos of mobile phones. has been seized from their possession. He said.

 On measurement the quantity was found to be 257.52 grams.  This is considered Commercial Quantity as per NDPS Act and all seizure and sealing processes were done in presence of the Executive Magistrate and witness. All the formalities have been done as per NDPS Act. SDPO said.

 Today’s seizure is one of the biggest seizure and bursting of the drug peddlers in the capital region and its biggest catch of the year through the Banderdewa PS team. This was the team effort and able leadership of SP Capital Jimmy Chiram, he said.

 While elaborating the action, Kamsi said that team was constituted by the Capital SP led by himself and Insp Tadu Hassang, OC PS BDW to identify and bust the peddlers in Banderdewa area, since Banderdewais considered a hub from where drugs are supplied in to Itanagar Capital Region and today with the recovery of huge quantity of contraband drugs from Banderdewa area is a successful effort and hope in future also capital police will always look forward to stop the peddling o drug in state capital which has been damaging the life of youths and beautiful life by the menace. Kamsi said.

 Total 5 occupants namely Sahida Khatun, 36, w/o Najir Ali, Village Raunari, PS Nagaon, Assam,  Faruk Ali, 19, S/o Mansur Ali (First Husband of Sahida), Village Katimari, PO Harapati, PS Nagaon, Assam, Riyajul Islam, 23, S/o Ahmed Ali, village Chalili, PO Bhokatgaon, PS Nagaon, Assam. Suria Khatun, 22, D/o Janab Ali, Village Katimari, PO Harapati, PS Nagaon, Assam and Sulema Khatun, 23, D/o Late Tahir Ali, Village Katimari, PO Harapati, PS Nagaon, Assam of the said Hotel have been arrested for further examination. A Case No. 16/21 U/S 21(c) NDPS Act registered at Banderdewa police station and endorsed to SI R K Jha for further investigation. SDPO said.

 Capital police will continue its efforts against drugs and in the last 2 months, more than 10 cases have been registered and over 20 people arrested with recovery of over 500 grams. SDPO added.

 SDPO further said that on Thursday Naharlagun police station team recovered 943 gms cannabis, and arrested 1 person in Case No-85/21 u/s 20(b)(ii) NDPS Act. Capital police is taking the fight against drugs very seriously.
