DC Talo Potom warned for legal action against shopkeepers selling tobacco product  nearby schools 

ITANAGAR, Sep 13:  The capital Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom on Tuesday has war3end all the shopkeepers who are selling tobacco products near in the radius of 100 mtrs form the educational institution and also to the minors and school students. 

The District Administration (DA) led by DC Talo Potom has carried out a drive against illicit sale of cigarettes and other tobacco products in shops which are located within 100 meters radius of the schools in various parts of the capital complex.

The team comprising district administration, All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) and All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) carried out a surprise visit at many shops and small vendors who were selling tobacco products.

Though the challan was not issued, DC Talo Potom strictly cautioned the shopkeepers and vendors not to repeat the same in future which may cause them to take legal action.  

During the raids it was found that many shopkeepers were selling tobacco products which is prohibited by the law, said Potom.

“Next time if shopkeepers and vendors are found to be selling the same products then their trading license would be cancelled,” said Potom.

Asking shopkeepers to put up a warning notice board saying that they do not sell tobacco items to the students under 18 years, DC appealed AAPSU and ANSU to impart awareness to the students about the ill effects of tobacco and cigarettes.
