Fit India Movement: Open Gym Inaugurated in Longding to Promote Health and Wellness

LONGDING: In line with the Fit India Movement initiative of the Government of India, an Open Gym was inaugurated today in Longding by MLA Tanpho Wangnaw, the representative of the 59th Longding Pumao Assembly Constituency. The project, executed by the Urban Development and Housing Department in Longding Division, aims to encourage physical fitness and promote a healthy lifestyle among the residents.

During the inauguration ceremony, MLA Tanpho Wangnaw commended the Urban Development Department for their excellent work in executing the project. He emphasized the importance of regular exercise and maintaining good health, expressing his belief that the newly opened Open Gym would play a crucial role in achieving these goals. He urged the department and the public to take good care of the facility, stating that the maintenance of such assets is as vital as their creation. In his address, he also assured the gathering that the issue of water scarcity would be resolved by the beginning of 2023 under the guidance of Chief Minister Pema Khandu.

Techu Aran, the in-charge Deputy Commissioner of Longding District, also spoke at the event, highlighting the significance of health and wellness in our daily lives. Aran emphasized that the Open Gym is a necessary asset for promoting fitness and well-being. When utilized effectively, he stated, the Open Gym can be a valuable resource for the people of Longding.

Er. Kak Nabam, Executive Engineer of the Urban Development and Housing Department, provided a briefing on the Open Gym, emphasizing its importance and sharing technical details. He expressed his gratitude to the District Administration, District Olympic Association, Wancho Council, Wancho Cultural Society, and Civil Societies for their valuable support, which contributed to the successful completion of the project.

During the vote of thanks, AE Longding Er. Likha Tuma expressed appreciation to all the dignitaries and guests for gracing the ceremony with their presence, making it a memorable and enriching experience.

The programme witnessed the presence of Mirpe Tato, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Longding, Zehai Wangsu, the Zilla Parishad Member of Longding, various Heads of Departments, Somnai Wangpan, the President of Wancho Council, Lemkai Rangkham, the General Secretary of Wancho Cultural Society, as well as other officers and officials.
