KHONSA, May 06: The anti drug squad of Tirap Police on Tuesday apprehended five drug peddlers with suspected narcotic substances.
Based on specific intelligence reports regarding movement of narcotics substances, Tirap Police set up the MCP at various locations under the Tirap district on 04/05/2021 and managed to apprehend peddlers’ along with suspected Narcotic substances.
Three cases of NDPS have been registered at the Tirap district on the recovery of suspected contraband substances from the apprehended persons.
The case, DML PS C/No.04/21 u/s 21(b)NDPS Act reg on recoveries of 29.24 grams of suspected brown sugar from Raatwang and Singkai.
Another case, DML PS C/No.03/21 u/s 21(b)NDPS Act reg on recoveries of 9.26 grams of suspected brown sugar from Sanjit.
And case, KSA PS C/No.13/21 u/s 17(b)NDPS Act registered on recoveries of 604 grams of suspected opium (smeared in cloth) from Lucy and Nyajin.
Meanwhile SP Tirap, Kardak Riba while congratulating the ADS of Tirap Police warned the peddler’s to desist from drug peddling otherwise strict action will be taken against them. He also appealed to the civil society of Tirap to support the Tirap Police and Districtadministration to eradicate the menace of drugs from our society/district.
The SP also appealed to everyone to install the Drug free Arunachal apps from Google Play Store and make adequate use of the apps by informing the police of any drug abuse at Tirap district. By using the apps the identity of the informant will be kept secret and even the police acting on the ground will not be aware about the details of the informant, the SP added.
