NAHARLAGUN, MAY 25: The local residents, Polo colony development committee, IMC Corporater Tadar Hanghi has appeal the Capital PWD Division (Naharlagun) to immediately start with repairing and maintenance of the road leading toward the Polo colony which is in pathetic condition for years together.
IMC Corporater Hanghi inform the media that there are two road leading toward Polo colony, one from G Extension while other from D Sector side and both roads are in bad shape and in pathetic condition and dire need of repairing and maintenance even after the state government has approved and sanctioned the road for restoration and strengthening but the work is yet to start and we the general public has been facing lots of untold suffering due to bad roads in the locality. She said.
Since I became the Corporater of the Ward the locals have been pursuing it on a daily basis and I have no option but to approach the authority and I have approached the chief engineer and higher authority for the same but the result is nil. And therefore we have no option but to demand for the cancellation of tender to the said contractor who has not been able to start the works and conduct re-tender so that any eligible contractor can take up the work immediately without so much delay. She said.
The colony development committee President and local leader and senior member of the area also spoke and shared the problem being faced due to pathetic road conditions in all weather. And urge upon the PWD either to start the work or cancel the tender and award to some other.
Meanwhile, Naharlagun PWD division engineer informed that the work was supposed to start early last year but due to lockdown and other issues the work could not take place, however the executing agency has assured to take up the work after the lockdown is over in the capital region. The Assistant engineer has also informed that there are a total of 21 KM of stretch in the Naharlagun area and most of the work would be taken up shortly as the agency has arranged tools and plants for the purpose as per information.
