NESO protest with 11 point charter of demand including demanding member of inter-state boundary committee and repeal of CAA

ITANAGAR, AUGUST 17:  The North East Students organization (NESO) on Wednesday staged a dharna and protest with an 11 point charter of demand before the state and central government.

Addressing the  media, the NESO coordinator  Pritam Bhai Sonam said that almost all the region of North East region is facing influx problems of population, though few states of regions has been implemented the Inner line permit (ILP) system but this system need to be implemented in later and spirit in the entire NE region and update the NRC, 1951.

The Arm force special power Act was implemented in few parts of state and region for a better purpose if it is properly utilized to fight the terror but it has been observed that it has also been misused so it is a very serious issue and the misuse of AFSPA need to be condemned and checked. He said.

Still in education sector there is lots to be done and due to which the education policy of the central government has to be amended or it has  to be Implemented, the education policy based on culture and history of NE region has to be adopted, establishment of more university, engineering college, medical college, technical and vocational institutes, research centres introduce more courses  to our colleges and university, the Assam accord immediately need to be implemented. He said.

The development of the NE region Is not at par with the mainland and so to fast track the development of the states of the region an economic package need to be given by the centre to formulate a comprehensive policy of economic development of NE region, administrative centre of Act east policy must be established in the region itself so good governance. Solve the unemployment problems immediately, declaration of a special employment zone with all the Grade-III & IV posts of central offices must be reserved for NE people cent percent. Provide a special constitution for NE people with right over land and natural resources for equal status and development. He said.

Demand for a separate time zone for the NE region is also needed. Sonam said.

With regards to the refugee problem, Sonam said that the central government should solve the refugee problem in the region. The central government should solve the refugee issue of Chakma and Hajong of Arunachal Pradesh and the migrants from Myanmar immediately or else it would be a threat to the culture, ethnicity and demography of the local identity in time to come. He said.

With regard to the inter-state boundary dispute, the NESO leader said that though the long pending problem in the court of law but is has come to know that both the state of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam has initiative for solving the issue outside the court is a welcome step but both the state government should involve the students organization  being the part of society who has been fighting for the vexed issue since time decades and involving the students union of both states would also help in the society for future. Sonam added.

Apart of these demands for repeal of CAA is still there with other major demands. Sonam further said.

The protest is being held in all states of the region. The student’s leader of All Arunachal Pradesh students union (AAPSU) which include President Dozi Tana Tara, General secretary Ritum Tali, former General Secretary Tobom Dai and several others were present and addressed the media.
