Plantation programme organized by BSI on the occasion of national environment awareness campaign

ITANAGAR, A plantation program was organised on the auspices of  National Environmental Awareness Campaign organised by Botanical Survey of India Employees association at Botanical Survey of India on Wednesday at APRC Campus Itanagar. Samplings having edible, medicinal and timber values were planted by dignitaries of various department.

The program was carried out as an ex-situ conservation initiative with participation from other central Government institutes such as CRPF ( 138 battalion), Zoological Survey of India, G B Pant national institute for Himalayan Environment, Regional Ayurveda  Research Institute based at Itanagar. Students from Hornbill Public school has also participated in the program. 

Dr. V K  Rawat , Head of Office, BSI APRC, Aroop Chattergee, Secretary General , BSIEA, H S Kalesh, Commandant  CRPF, Dr MS Lodi, Head of Office GBPNIHE, Dr S Gurumayum, Scientist in charge, ZSI and Dr SK Meher, Head of Office, RARI have graced the occasion and address the gathering.

Dr. B B Bhatt, Research officer, Arunachal Pradesh Environmental and Forest Department has delivered a PowerPoint presentation deflecting the biodiversity of Arunachal Pradesh. Dr. Manas Ranjan Debta and Dr. Krishna Chowlu, scientists of BSI have also delivered speech on the importance of biodiversity conservation on this occasion.
