Talo Potom appeal citizens living on bank of river and below mountain slope to remain alert

ITANAGAR, JUNE 5 : The capital Deputy commissioner Talo Potom has appeal the citizens of capital complex and adjoining area residing on Bank of river and hill slope to remain on high alert in view of incessant rainfall and landslides due to heavy downpour.

Potom alongwith ADC Talom Dupak, Itanagar EAC Neelam Teji, SDPO Kamdam Sikom and others visited various places where landslide has taken place. Several other officers including DDMO Incharge Tem Kaya, Naharlagun CO Laxmi Dodum in Naharlagun and Lekhi area while Banderdewa CO Ritu Tawe visited and inspected landslide and flood prone area in various parts of capital complex and interacted the victims, building owner and local residents.

Potom inform that due to incessant rainfall I am in touch with all line department. It has been observed that several temporary and permanent buildings has been constructed at below high mountain and on Bank of river. Such places are high risk area and prine to landslide and flood and determental and lead to loss of life and property. He said.

Those who want to construct permanent residential buildings should get proper permission from the administration and consult engineer/architect and technical and take the help of technological input so that such disaster and huge damage of property and loss of life are reduced to a minimum and also does not takes place again and again. He said.

We are passing through critical period of Covid 19 pandamic on one hand and landslide and flood triggered by heavy downpour on the other hand. So time has come that every individual has to remain alert and maintain precautionary measure to remain safe and secure. Potom said.

He inform that a direction has been issued to WRD department to enlist all residential building on the bank of all rivers and its tributary and all buildings vulnerable to landslide and flood prone area so that precautionary measures are taken and also legal action be initiated if needed. Potom added.

DC further inform that three relief camps has been made ready for use at Nyokum hall at Banderdewa, Kankarnallah Higher Secondary school at Model village in Naharlagun and Arunodaya Higher Secondary school at H sector in Itanagar. If there is any case of flood and disaster one can call the officers of capital administration and officers of capital police and also contact control room/helpline no- 1090 (tollfree) no of BSNL.
