Unidentified and fully decomposed body recovered from Lekhi

NAHARLGUN, Sept 27 : An unidentified and fully decomposed body of a female has been recovered from the Lekhi area between Naharlagun and Nirjuli township on Monday. Informed Naharlagun SDPO Dekio Gumja.

SDPO informed that an information was received at Nirjuli Police station at around 2 PM on Monday by a local resident of Lekhi Hapa that a decomposed dead body of a female has been seen in Quarry side of Pachin river. The team of police from NIrjuli Police station led by OC PS Nirjuli Inspector Minli Geyi  along with local magistrate  visited the spot and verified the information. He said.

It was found that near the confluence of river Pachin and Kankarnalla stream quarry side an unknown dead body fully decomposed beyond recognition was found lying on the quarry roadside, apparently a female of small hair cut of aged above 18 years. Her height may be of around 5.6 feet, the clothes which include white sandal, yellow colour jogger, red top with pink dupatta and most probably it seems that the body may be lying there for more than 1 month. The officer said.

Since the body was beyond recognition and fully decomposed and only a skeleton remains. The body was retrieved and kept at RK Mission morgue and legal procedures are being done. He said.

A case has been registered at Nirjuli Police station vide UD Case No-05/2021 has been registered and further investigation has been launched by the Inspector Geyi. Said SDPO.

Since the body is yet to be recognized and beyond recognition and the post mortem will be done on Tuesday at TRIHMS, Naharlagun , the denizens of those who know someone female of above description may help in identification. He said

After conduction all legal formalities the body will be disposed of properly as per legal procedure. SDPO added.
