3 out of 7 UTP have been re-arrested so far, intensive search operations still continue to nab others : Kushal Pal Singh, SP

ITANAGAR, JULY 15 : As of now three out of seven under trial prisoners (UTP) who escaped from the Pasighat Jail on July 11 have been re-arrested. Informed the East Siang SP Incharge Kushal Pal Singh.

The first one out of seven has been re-arrested was Kalen @ Allen Apang from Mirbuk village by police team at around 11.30 pm on Monday, the second accused wanted UTP Abhijit Gogoi @Diganto Gogoi@ Abhijit pertin has been arrested on Wednesday night at around 11.30 PM near Ruksin checkgate while the third one Subhash @Santosh Mondol has been arrested on Thursday afternoon from Poba reserve forest, Ruksin circle. Said SP.

East Siang Police tried its best effort to nab the culprits with the help of general public and local NGOs and lauded for extending support and cooperation to the police team in the search. He said.

Meanwhile intensive search operations for other remaining  UTPs are on and police are hoping to nab others soon.

As there was enough possibility of crossing the interstate border by the UTP’s to avoid the arrest, hence the border was sealed immediately and intensive checking is being done to contain  the movement of UTP’s. Several nakas have already been established in important places and necessary security personnel are being deployed so that normal checking and patrolling activities are also activated. SP added.

The UTP namely Abhijit Gogoi @Diganto Gogoi@ Abhijit pertin s/o Jeremy Gogoi who is accused  in various henious cases  and UTP namely Subhash @Santosh Mondol s/o Anil Mondol who is accused  in bank robbery and murder case of PS Pasighat. He said.

On further interrogation of Abhijit Gogoi @ Diganto Gogoi , it was revealed that during his escaping period as on 14th July 2021, he stole one Motorcycle, a laptop, some clothes and necessary documents i.e. Driving license, I-card , registration certificate from the house of Tongke Taye resident of Ruksin and was in ready position to leave Arunachal and Assam to avoid the arrest. The alleged Subhash Mondal informed that he had an intention to visit West Bangal after escaping through the Assam route. This operation got the cooperation  of villagers of Mangnag village,  12 Mile village and Mikong village and ABK Youth Wing in form of necessary inputs and cooperation  in a deep, dense and unknown forest. Dhemaji District police, TMPK and AMPK also provide necessary cooperation in matters related to dissemination of information and cordening of the bordering areas. He added.

Till now three absconding UTP’s have been arrested and the remaining four will be arrested soon. SP further said.
