AEKDSU threatened to launch democratic movement on Seppa-Chyangtajo road to expedite construction and proper investigation

ITANAGAR, Dec 15:  The All East Kameng District Students’ Union (AEKDSU) has announced  to initiate democratic movement with regards to the alleged misappropriation of Seppa-Chayangtajo road project and proper investigation.

Addressing the newspersons at Arunachal press Club (APC), AEKDSU president chakang Yangda said that the union has been continuously appealing state government and department concern to expedite the construction work of Seppa-Chayangtajo road project at the earliest but other than assurance nothing has been initiated so far, which has compelled the union to resort democratic movement and no alternate left. 

Expressing concern over the project, he informed that more than Rs 170 crore has been sanctioned since 2008 under North East Council (NEC) with an initial amount of Rs 100 crore and in 2014-15 another additional amount of Rs 72 crore but department concerned has miserably failed to complete the task.

Stressing on the early completion of vital 81 km Seppa – Chayangtajo road project, Yangda said, “We are in dilemma that why investigating officer of said road project have been transfer in the past few month,”, adding that Special Investigation Cell (SIC) has been endorsed to investigate for malpractice on the same project but there seems no progress or outcome till date.

The chief minister Pema Khandu during his maiden visit to Chayangtajo in 2021 November has also assured for the early completion of said project but there is no tangible progress or development in the project, said union.

Earlier the AEKDSU also lodged  a complaint against four persons with SIC for misappropriation of funds and demanding proper action as per law. The union also demanded proper investigation inspite of case registered several year back  and submission of charge sheet immediately. 

The union further has also sought clarification of the action taken so far in the said case as the people of district want clarification
