NAMSAI, Dec 01: The Anti-Drug Squad of Namsai Police arrested one more drug peddler in Namsai on Wednesday.
“On November 30, 2022 at around 3:40 pm, information was received from a reliable source that one drug peddler, namely Chow Sumanna Munglang, aged 48 years, son of Lt. Chow Lik Munglang of Adiline Namsai under Namsai PS under Namsai district of Arunachal Pradesh, was in possession of contraband substance and was likely to be disposed off shortly,” informed Dr. DW Thongon, Superintendent of Police, Namsai.
Accordingly, the Anti-Drug Squad, Namsai, led by DySP Chera Saban, SDPO Namsai along with Executive Magistrate Mihin Anku and two independent witnesses proceeded to the house of the suspected drug peddler and conducted search of the house observing all legal formalities, Thongon informed.
During the search the team recovered three soap cases containing whitish-orange colour powdery substance suspected to be heroin weighing approximately 33.7 gm, Thongon added.
Two plastic bags containing cannabis weighing approximately 8.5 kg, he said.
The accused, identified as Chow Sumanna Munglang, has been arrested and the recovered contraband substances have been seized in presence of the Executive Magistrate and independent witnesses, he further informed.
A case vide Namsai Police Station Case No. 91/2022 U/S 20(b)/ 21(b) NDPS Act has been registered and the responsibility of the investigation has been endorsed to Inspector AK Pandey.The SP added, “The arrested accused, Chow Sumanna Munglang, was involved in three different cases in previous years under the crime heads Arms Act, Explosives Act, extortion, criminal conspiracy and Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, etc.”
