DOIMUKH, AUG 5 ; The body of the girl who got drowned in Dikrong river on Wednesday evening has been retrieved from the downstream from Pithaguri, Nepali basti, Banderdewa in Bihpuria circle of North Lakhimpur, Assam informed an official.
Doimukh, SDPO Bomken Basar informed that today at around 1200 hours, the dead body of the drowned girl was recovered from Pithaguri, Nepali basti, Banderdewa Assam by police and NDRF team with the help of Local.
After conducting legal formalities the dead body is handed over to the relative. SDPO said.
It is to mention that the girl, a student on Wednesday evening at around 17.30 hours, drowned in Dikrong river from Khola Camp area, Doimukh while taking bath. She was bathing in the river along with five friends.
As per information received from the Doimukh police sources 4 girls were taking bath/swimming at knee length river water. Suddenly, all of them lost control and were about to be drowned at a bit deeper side. 2 boys rescued 3 of them but one of the girls could not be rescued and drowned.
The NDRF and DMK police have carried out search operations.
