Capital police have seized a huge catch of “Heroin” and arrested two accused

 

BANDERDEWA, APRIL 24: The Capital police in a major breakthrough have been able to seize a huge catch of Heroin and arrested two accused in the connection. Informed an official.

Briefing the media person at Banderdewa Police station bordering Assam, Capital SP Jimmy Chiram has informed that it is a major breakthrough for capital police in fight against the drug. The Capital Police seized a big catch of contraband suspected drugs “Heroin” on Friday night.

It was made possible with team effort of the officers and police personnels of several police stations of the capital complex. He said There were several reports of selling of drugs in Capital Complex area being supplied from Assam side and on getting information of such case the SP has constituted the dedicated team of officer comprising Dy SP Kamdam. Sikom, SDPO Itanagar, SI N. Nishant, SI A. K. Jha, Ct. A. Robi Singh, CT S. Das, Ct. Namgey, Ct. Ligu, Ct. Mili, L/ct Sora and Ct. Kamki. He said.

 

Accordingly, the team was keeping surveillance upon traffickers who were reportedly active from the Assam side and used to cross Arunachal border via the river bed of Banderdewa area. On 23/04/2021 morning, the team gets a tip off trafficking of drugs from Assam side via river site of Karsingsa area. On getting such a specific lead, the team swung into action and made an ambush in Karsingsa river site in a bushy forest area. He said.

The team was divided into different groups led by DySP K Sikom himself assisted by SI N Nishant and SI A K Jha managed to apprehend two drug peddlers from Dobum river site area after a day long cat and mouse play at around 2030 hrs, while they were trying to cross the Karsingsa river and found having in possession of suspected contraband drugs “heroin” in 8 packets (weighing 199.66 gram), two mobile handset along with 2 two wheelers which were seized. He said.

Later they were apprehended and identified as Rahul Doley of Panigaon, North Lakhimpur and Dibakar Kuli of Bedeti, Bihpuria, Assam from Dobum quarry, Karsingsa. The team was assisted by Shri Oli Koyu, Spl. Executive Magistrate 1st class (Narcotics), AP seized the contraband drugs and a regular case has been registered at Banderdewa PS vide Bdw PS Case No.10/21 u.s. 21(b) NDPS act and further investigation will be taken up by Insp T. Hassang, OC PS Banderdewa. he informed.

The SP lauded the commendable work of team Itanagar Police also praised the contribution of Spl. Magistrate (Narcotics) and National Anti Corruption and Crime Prevention Council, Itanagar who has also helped the Capital Police team in execution of special operations.

He further said that this is the biggest catch of contraband drug by Capital Police and helps drug free society especially when the entire world is facing pandemic. It is worth mentioning here that in the last lockdown due to Covid 19 pandemic, there was a sudden rise in demand for drugs and it was reportedly sold @ Rs.20000 to 30000 per tube.

He also appealed to the like minded citizens and parents to help those who have been addicted to drug and put extra vigil to cut the supply chain of drugs in Capital from Assam which has been damaging the youthful life of the youngsters.
