ITANAGAR, MARCH 22 : The commonwealth parliamentary association, (CPA) India region, Zone-III to be held from April 21-24 in Itanagar capital city of state. informed Arunachal Pradesh Legislative assembly (APLA) Deputy Speaker Tesam Pongte.
A coordination meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Speaker which was attended by several officers of the line department. Tesam Pongte after the meeting at the confrere hall informed the media that it was decided during the joint meeting of the association at Shillong. Meghalaya, we have to host the conference.
Today we have a coordination meeting on the issue and we have discussed various issues related to the conference to be held at the state capital. There would be a grand preparation for the same as several parliamentarians from all seven states of the North east region would be participating including one MP from each state. two MLA including that of leader of opposition, the Principal secretary/commissioner/ secretary of the respective legislative assembly will also take part in the conference. Pongte said.
All the speakers, Deputy Speaker of the states of NE Region will propose issues concerning the interest of the people of the region, there will be discussion on mutual cooperation and strengthening of relationship and discussion will be held on strengthening of democratic system of government parliamentary democracy. He said.
The inaugural ceremony will be inaugurated by the Lok Sabha Speaker and the governor of our state will be attending the closing ceremony. He said.
For the successful conduct of the conference we need to make necessary arrangements like accommodation, security, protocol, Transportation etc to the visiting dignitaries who will be our state guests. Keeping in view we have discussed all the issues and distributed and the works have been assigned to respective officers concerned. Pongte added.
Few miscellaneous issue were also discussed and we would also show our place of interest in and around capital complex to the dignitaries like of Gonpa, Ita fort, zen garden, hydro project handloom and cane industry, tourism stall etc. Pongte further said.
The proposed meeting was to be held in 2019 but due to some unavoidable circumstances like general election in the state of Arunachal Pradesh in 2019 and Covid pandemic etc the meeting could not be arranged. He said.
It is to mention that the last 17th CPA conference was held at Shillong in March 2022.
Senior officers from AP Civil Secretariat which include state protocol officer Sadhna Deori, SP Security John Pada, Capital DC Talo Potom, SP Jimmy Chiram , Secretary APLA Kago Habung, Additional secretary Tadar Meena and others officers of APLA attended the meeting.
