DC warned those involved in illegal earth cutting to stop forthwith or else face legal action

NAHARLAGUN, MAY 12: The Capital Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom has warned all those who are involved in illegal earth cutting to stop forthwith or else face legal action and even warns to arrest and register a case against them with seizure of earth movers.

Potom informs the media that information has been received that several illegal earth cuttings are going in and around the capital complex without obtaining prior permission from the administration and government even if the earth cutting is for government purpose. Illegal earth cutting is not good as it not only damages the vegetation but also badly affects the environment and is likely to affect landslide and soil erosion. He said.

“it has been reported that there have been rampant earth cutting going on In various locations at Itanager, Naharlagun. Nirjuli and Banderdewa of Itanagar Capital Complex and such illegal earth cutting not only endangers human lives due to consequent Landslides etc but also cause blockage to drains and river streams. It also leads to defacement of public properties like government buildings, roads, nallahs, culverts, storm water drains, etc” Potom said.

Several such illegal earth cutting also leads to blockage/damages of Right of Way (RoW) on NH 415 and other sector roads. Such blockages are frequent in monsoon season and are likely a danger and risk for life and property of people and also damages the roads and such activities need to be stopped. He said.

Keeping in view and alarming situation which may come out of such illegal earth cutting and today I have send my officers in more than five such places and stopped the earth cutting and if they continue to do so there is no option left with the administration to book all such person involved in the illegal earth cutting under Section 133 Cr.P.C, 1973 r/w Section 30(1) and Section 34 of the Disaster Management Act’
2005. He said.

He further said an order has been released in this effect that ‘earth cutting in the Capital Complex is banned with immediate effect till further order. necessary action to stop such activities in the Capital Complex to be taken up against the defaulters be booked under appropriate section under DM Act’ 2005.Any complaint in this regard may be intimated on the helpline No. 1077/878733031. Potom further said.
