Former EKSCWO Chairman and Education Reformer, Kata Rangmo, Passes Away at 47

Former East Kameng Social Welfare and Cultural Organisation (EKSCWO) Chairman and Deputy Director of School Education (DDSE), Kata Rangmo, passed away at his residence in Jollang, Itanagar on June 22. The 47-year-old education reformist and prominent figure in the East Kameng district and Nyishi community had been battling a prolonged illness.

Kata Rangmo’s contributions as DDSE in Seppa were widely acclaimed by society. He played a pivotal role in transforming the education landscape of the region. Born in 1976 in Watte village, under Bana circle of East Kameng district, Rangmo completed his schooling from Watte ME school and Jawaharlal Navodaya Vidyalaya in Seppa. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Government Degree College Bomdila and pursued his MA and MPhil from the then Arunachal University (RGU) in 1999. While pursuing his higher education, Rangmo started his career as an Assistant Teacher in 1996. Over the years, he held various positions such as District Adult Education Officer, Principal of DIET Seppa, and eventually became the DDSE of Seppa.

During his tenure as the Chairman of EKSCWO, Rangmo spearheaded several initiatives in the fields of education, culture, and social reform. His leadership and vision brought about positive changes in the community. Additionally, he served as the Chairman of the Nyishi Elite Society East Kameng Unit.

Kata Rangmo is survived by two wives, two sons, and five daughters. His passing is mourned by the community and all those who admired his dedication and contributions to the betterment of education and society in the East Kameng district.
