GKWS condoles demise of former ZPM Giah Tanang

NAHARLAGUN, Feb 12: The Giah Ku Welfare Society (GKWS) has expressed its deep condolence at the demise of former ZPM Giah Tanang (Yura) who passed away this morning after prolonged illness.

It’s very sad to inform that one of our senior-most member of the Giah Ku Welfare Society (GKWS) and a former ZPM Giah Tanang (Yura) breathed his last at 9:30 am on Sunday after prolonged illness,” the Giah Ku Welfare Society (GKWS) said in a condolence message.  

He had unsuccessfully contested as an MLA candidate from then undivided Raga-Tali Assembly constituency in the 1984 Assembly election.

He was elected as a ZPM of the undivided Tali-Pipsorang Zilla Panchayat segment.

“He was an active political leader as well as a social worker with his humble, sincere, honest, courageous and warm-hearted character which made him more popular and was loved and respected by all sections of society,” the GKWS said.

“He was such a great politician that he persuaded the then Chief Minister Gegong Apang to land by chopper at remote Roing village of Tali circle in 1982 Nyokum Yulo celebration where such communication was next to impossible,” the GKWS said.

“Similarly, with the present GKWS is the brainchild of his dreams, who started the Society movement by the name and style of Raanik Raarik Welfare Association in 1980s,” it added.

“The untimely demise of Giah Tanang is an irreparable loss to the Giah family in particular and the entire State of Arunachal Pradesh as a whole,” the GKWS said.“The GKWS has no words to express further and extend its deepest condolence to the bereaved family members, friends and relatives to bear with praying the Almighty God to provide enough strength and energy to them and may his soul rest in eternal peace in the heavenly abode,” the message further said.
