ITANAGAR, MAY 31 : The incessant rainfall for last two days have started showing its trail of devastation in the capital city of Arunachal Pradesh on Monday. With flood like situation in Ganga market area and a portion of road on NH-415 between C & D Sector near IG Park has been collapsed today morning.
The heavy downpour for last two hays amid the Covid pandemic under lockdown experienced by the people of capital complex for last more than 25 days has made the life of the flood affected and landslide affected people in horrible condition. Informed the flood hit victim shopkeepers. The locals shopkeepers inform that almost all the Akashdeep shoping complex and some parts of Ganga market area were inundated by the flood water and it is expected that more than 150-200 shops keepers has been affected due to heavy downpour and flood in last two days.
A huge protection wall on National Highway-415 between C & D Sector near IG Park has also collapsed today morning at around 10.30. the debris of the protection wall has hit a residential building down below at C-II sector. The building of one Tadar Amp has been partially damaged while a student of Class XII who was residing a a renter’s belongings and all her property including the food items has been badly damaged while other renters of the building has been asked to shift to other places in view of heavy downpour and which may attract any untoward incident. A senior local resident Gollo Takek informed.
As per information a landslide has also taken place backside of the DDK Kendra here today while report of house damaged in Lekhi has been due to heavy downpour and flood.
Meanwhile taking to media virtually through video conferencing The Capital Deputy Commissioner Incharge Talo Potom said that I have visited the site at Ganga Market area and Akashdeep with Highway EE and engaged man and machine and directed them to immediately maintain the drainage system which has some technical defect immediately.
With regards to the landslide near C & D Sector on NH-415, DC said that one portion of retaining wall has been collapsed on NH-415 between C Sector and D Sector in the city today morning. I will send the magistrate to visit the place and take necessary action. DC added.
