IMC Conducts Joint Inspection to Relocate Street Vendors Amidst Highway Construction Works

NAHARLAGUN, July 31: In response to concerns raised by the All Arunachal Pradesh Hawkers & Street Vendors Federation (APHSVF) regarding the displacement of street vendors due to ongoing highway construction works, a joint inspection was carried out by the Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC), along with officials from various departments, to find suitable locations for their relocation.

During the inspection, potential sites like Old Assembly Roads, Naharlagun, Situated between Old Assembly and Stadium, Front Side of Flex Printing near Rajhans Hotel, Barapani Naharlagun, located outside the radius of NH-415, In Front of Mamkee Publisher, C-Sector, Naharlagun, near Forest Nursery, Pappu Nallah, and remaining Land from the Proposed Multiple Car Parking Place, Opposite Takar Complex were assessed.

Mayor Phassang highlighted that a collaborative approach involving Itanagar Smart City officials and the Chief Secretary will be adopted to identify appropriate vending zones. The goal is to provide adequate space for street vendors while maintaining the harmony of the city’s infrastructure, considering existing challenges like traffic congestion and parking problems.

The IMC is committed to finding amicable solutions that benefit both the affected vendors and the state’s infrastructure, ensuring a well-planned and orderly relocation process. Mayor Phassang emphasized the importance of a visionary perspective to address the issue and create a win-win situation for all stakeholders involved in maintaining cleanliness, peace, and tranquility in the capital region.
