Minister Wangki Lowang becomes first minister to visit Glow lake in Lohit

ITANAGAR, Dec 29: Minister for PHE & WS & IT Minister Wangki Lowang today visited the Glow lake in Lohit district as part of a trekking expedition.

With this visit, Lowang became the first minister to reach Glow lake in Wakro under the Lohit district.

The lake is situated at the altitude of 1165 mtrs above the sea level with an area of approximately 150 ha. It falls under Kamlang wildlife sanctuary of Lohit district.

He was accompanied by his wife Chango Lowang, his sons, workers from the 54th Namsang ST Assembly Constituency and general public of Namsai and Lohit districts.

The trekking expedition was of two days and two nights.

The minister completed the trekking expedition despite extreme bad weather. Also, 6 ladies including the minister’s wife accompanied the expedition team.

The main motive of the expedition was to promote tourism. The minister firmly believes that promotion of tourism will generate employment opportunities and boost the economy.

The programme was supported by Mishmi Hills Trekking and Expedition in collaboration with the namsai division of the PHE department.

Located inside the buffer of Kamlang TR at a distance of 18 km from Wakro town, it is 70 km from Tezu and 140 km from Tinsukia railway station.It can only be reached on foot and it takes approximately 6 hours to reach there from the Sinabrai check gate. It has a natural as well as cultural significance in local Mishmi culture which has helped to protect it from anthropogenic pressures.
