Papum Pare police arrested 3 persons from UP in connection with a cheating case

YUPIA, MARCH 31 : The Papum Pare rural Police has arrested three persons from Uttar Pradesh in connection with cheating multiple people through mobile phones to provide VIP Sim cards.  

Speaking to media, Papum Pare SP Dr. Neelam Nega said that the cases of cheating through electronic and modern technology are increasing and the innocent people are getting prey of such fraud and cheating cases without using intelligence and proper verification and wasting hard earned money and becoming victims. 

In this instance, a case of cheating has been related to  providing a VIP Sim card to one Teli Tada of Doimukh and he has been cheated of around 1.29 lakhs which was paid through online mode during the Covid pandemic. A written FIR was received and a case was registered at Doimukh Police vide case no-65/2021 u/s-420 IPC and a team consisting of  SI N.Tate,   Ct. M. Sera, Ct. MK Yadav and Ct. S. Yadav  was formed under the supervision of Bomken Basar, SDPO Doimukh and Inspector Inya Ete, OC PS DMK which led to arrest of three person in this connection. He said.

After technical investigation, the team left for Varanasi, U.P. They camped at various locations and finally with the help of CMCU PHQ, the team arrested Mukesh Kumar Mishra, 38 years from Parasara village, Varanasi District,  UP. They also arrested Vinod Kumar Singh, 49 years from Jaunpur, U.P.Their arrest led to arrest of another person Nilesh Singh, 31 years from Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh. He said.

Narrating the modus operandi, SP Dr. Nega said that Sanjay Mishra and his friend Nilesh made a call to the complainant offering VIP numbers for cash of Rs. 1.29 lakhs.  During questioning, it is revealed that Nilesh got the account details of Mukesh and Vinod and these accounts were given to the complainant to deposit money. He said.

Mukesh and Vinod claim to be innocent but their role is being investigated. All three accused persons are brought to DMK PS and produced before Yupia court and under police custody for further investigation. He added.

As per statement, Nilesh claims to have committed the offence with the help of one more person. The police are still trying to find the accomplice. SP further said.

SP however cautioned and appealed to the general people not to become prey to such phone calls for providing mobile towers, Sim Card, schemes which include lottery worth crores and similar schemes and become victims and then realized after wasting hard earned money. He also urged upon all to verify before accepting gifts, donations, offer letter of offers for schemes of lottery and others.
