Tawang Police arrests man from Rajasthan for cheating Arunachalee of Rs 4.96 crore

ITANAGAR, Feb 13: In a major breakthrough, Tawang Police arrested a man from Rajasthan for cheating a person from Arunachal Pradesh of Rs 4.95 crore.  

The cheater has been identified as Ram Ratan Choudhary, popularly known as Balaji.

“Ram Ratan Choudhary alias Balaji was arrested by a team Tawang Police, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dr Thutan Jambey with the support of Rajasthan Police from Rowdu village in Rajasthan’s Nagaur district,” Tawang Superintendent of Police (SP) In-charge Bharat Meena told Arunachal Front.

The Tawang Police SP (In-charge) said, “On February 2, an FIR WAS received from Yeshi Tsering that a person, identified as Ram Ratan Chaudhary, cheated him of around Rs 4.95 crore with a promise to provide iron rods of the amount. But without supplying the iron rods, he fled away from Tawang to his native place in Rajasthan.”

On the basis of the FIR, a case was registered at Tawang Police Station vide case no. 02/2022 u/s 420 IPC. 

A non-bailable warrant of arrest (NBWA) was obtained by the police from the 1st Class Judicial Magistrate, Tawang against Ram Ratan Chaudhary.

“Accordingly, a Tawang Police team, led by Tawang Deputy Superintendent of Police Dr Thutan Jambey, went to Rajasthan and with the help of Rajasthan Police, alleged accused Ram Ratan Chaudhary was arrested on February 8,” Meena said.

“The team returned to Tawang on February 11 and now the alleged accused, Ram Ratan Chaudhary, is on police remand for 5 days,” Meena added.
