Thousand of Buddhist believers took out a peaceful candle light rally demanding arrest of culprit in torching of Gonpa at Riwotala in Tuting

ITANAGAR, Retreating to the immediate arrest of culprits involved in the burning down of Gonpa at Riwotala in Tuting sub division of Upper Siang recently, at least thousands of Buddhist believers and others took out a peaceful candle light march from Tennis court IG Park to Itanagar Gonpa.

In respect to the incident FIR was already filed on 28 October but till date no progress has been made to nab the culprits and no culprit has been arrested, said Cheme Yangsang Pema Kod Welfare society (CYPKWS) president Michung Khampa.

Stating this incident has hurt the religious sentiments of buddhist believers, he said, “We do not blame everyone but suspect someone from Simong village or otherwise which need to be investigated properly and culprit must be arrested without delay ,”.

Earlier notice was served from Simang village to the Eight Gao Burhas (GBs) of the Buddhist community to vacate the temple mentioning areas belonging to them, he further informed.

Law enforcement of the land should arrest the culprits or else they would not stop democratic movement till the demands are not met, said few speakers during the rally.

According to the protestors incident has a widespread condemnation by several section of society. the gonpa is located at quite distance and could only reach by footwall for two days and the torching  of the gonpa was known and the FIR has been filed on October 28.
