Tirap Police Continues Crackdown Against Drug Peddlers

In their ongoing efforts to combat the menace of drug trafficking, the Tirap Police recently conducted a successful operation against a drug peddler in Deomali. Acting on specific intelligence, a team led by Inspector T. Wangpan, Officer-in-Charge of PS Deomali, under the close supervision of Superintendent of Police Tirap, Rahul Gupta, IPS, conducted a house search at Batey colony on July 19, 2023.

During the operation, the police team discovered and seized 2.8 grams of suspected heroin, along with the sale proceeds amounting to Rs. 8,800 and other incriminating articles. The seizure was carried out following all lawful procedures in the presence of Mr. D. Baham, Circle Officer of Deomali. The recovered substances and evidence were confiscated as part of the investigation.

Following the seizure, a case has been registered under section 21(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The woman drug peddler has been identified as Smt. Rangrang Thingnok, approximately 37 years old, residing in Batey colony, Deomali. She has been arrested for further interrogation to gather more information about her involvement in drug trafficking.

The Tirap Police’s relentless crackdown against drug peddlers in the region is a significant step towards curbing the illegal drug trade. With the support and supervision of Superintendent of Police Sh. Rahul Gupta, the dedicated efforts of Inspector T.
