Torrential rain creates havoc in capital complex; Heavy traffic movement on Nirjuli-Banderdewa diverted

NIRJULI, APRIL 24 : The heavy downpour for the last three days has thrown the normal life of people of the capital complex out of gear with damage of several roads, buildings, small bridges and boundary fencing, compound wall including vehicles etc.

Since last night several buildings have been submerged by the nearby stream passing nearby BageTinali, as per information the 1st floor of several buildings were submerged and the family members have to shift to safer locations leaving the whole property and personal belongings and food items damaged and worthless. Few vehicles parked in the area were also submerged by muddy water. 

IMC Corporator Tarh Nachung along with OC PS NIrjuli and Capital DDMO has visited damage caused due to flash flood including the boundary wall, compound wall, dwelling houses etc and also interacted with the locals.

The IMC Corporator Tarh Achak has informed that one OBT house of one Raju Roy at F Sector, Naharlagun working in a media house has been damaged due to landslide.

The Government Middle School, Papu nallah, SMC Chairman  Bengia Rape inform that a bridge constructed with the help of iron pipe, sheets and support wires by locals to cross in down below Press colony has been severely damaged and more than 150 members residing on the other side of the river is like in a house arrest and could not cross the bridge as the bridge has been severely damaged and posing dangerous to the commuters. The bridge was hit by flash flood water of the Papu river due to heavy downpour in the wee hours on Sunday. Bengia said.

Bengia appeal the administration and concerned department to immediately restore the bridge for the locals. 

Meanwhile, the locals from Niya colony have informed that the landslide from the backside of bunglow No-14, Niti Vihar has blocked the road of Niya colony and has also partially damaged a car parked on the roadside. The colony resident has appealed to the PWD Capital Division to clear the road and restore the traffic movement. 

The officer from Itanagar Fire station has informed that a landslide has taken place at its backside of the Fire station and threatening the fire station and its adjoining area and need immediate protection measures. The protection wall of the SBI guest house attached with the earlier Women Police station has also been damaged in the landslide triggered by the torrential rain. The fire service officer said.

Public leader, Kipa Taniang from Karsingsa informed that due to heavy rainfall the national highway-415 between Nirjuli-Karsingsa has been badly damaged and blocked. Due to landslides the traffic movement between Nirjuli-Banderdewa has also been affected. The debris is being cleared but the road has become narrow and is dangerous and needs alertness by the commuters. Taniang added.

Meanwhile, the Capital district administration in an advisory has diverted the traffic movement on Nirjuli-Banderdewa stretch. In an advisory note the capital administration said that : IN view of ongoing remedy work of Nowbhanga bridge at Dobam village, Banderdewa and report of securing taking place due to inclement weather and incessant rain in past few days, the movement of heavy motor vehicles including load pickup Trucks, passenger buses etc shall be diverted Harmoti-Gumto-Yupia or Bage Tinali-Doimukh-Gumto. The order said.

The general public of Banderdewa, Dobam, Karsingsa and adjoining area and the LMV, two wheelers, three wheelers plying through Nirjuli-Karsingsa-Dobam-Banderdewa route are advised to take due precaution on the said route. The Capital DC said.
