Tumke Bagra requested the MoFPI to provide more infra and support to Arunachal Pradesh

ITANAGAR, Oct 21: The industries minister Tumke Bagra held a meeting with Atul Saxena, joint secretary, ministry of food processing industries (MoFI), and Surendra Singh, director MOFI. The secretary of industry Hage Tari, lead promoter of mega food park Likha Maj and director of industry Taru Talo was also present and discuses several issue related to upcoming mega food park and other food processing industries in state etc.

The meeting discussed various issue related to Mega and mini food park in state, providing of subsidy to the local entrepreneurs of state for installing small scale industries in the food processing industry. He requested the officers of MoFPI to provide necessary infrastructure and support to upcoming entrepreneurs of state for promotion of food processing industries in state and region. Terming the huge potential of horticulture crops and fruits in state so that several small and medium scale food processing industries can be set up which would upgrade the economy and also minimise the load of unemployment in state. 

In the meeting, the minister deliberated about the mega food park at Banderdewa and the mini food park at Namsai with the visiting officials. He assured to provide all required external infrastructure by state govt to promote investment in Food Processing Industries in the state. Further, he requested for provision of a Mini Food Park and a cold chain in the West Siang district. Later briefing media, industries minister Tumke Bagra said covid 19 pandemic have hurt the progress of the mega food park.

 “It might not be possible to achieve the target of 2022 but we are making every possible effort to complete the mega food park at the earliest.  The state government will provide Rs 60 crore for the development of the external infrastructure of the food project. Fund for the majority of work like road, electricity has already been given,” said minister industries. He also shared that many companies have expressed interest to set up the industry at the mega food park.

Earlier the joint secretary Atul Saxena along with other officials of the industries department visited Mega Food Park near Banderdewa and Hollongi to inspect various schemes of the ministry.
