Vaccination for people above 18 years to start from May 17 : Libang


ITANAGAR, 13 May: The health and Family Welfare minister Alo Libang said that the state government is developing a SOP to ensure that there is no rush at vaccine centres when the vaccination of those above 18 starts. The state government has announced to start vaccination of people above 18 years from May 17 onwards. Briefing the press here on Thursday Libang said vaccines will be given in two batches during the day.

“Those 45 years will be vaccinated in the morning hour and 18 to 44 years in the evening. This will prevent rush and ensure social distancing in the vaccine centres,” said the health minister.  The minister expressed concern over failure to fully vaccinate the targeted population of above 45 and frontline workers. “I appeal to people of these categories to come forward and get vaccinated. We are working on a plan to complete vaccination of above 45 and frontline workers by the end of this month,” said Libang. The minister informed that fresh doses of 20180 Covishield vaccines arrived in the state on Wednesday.

“Very soon another 35, 000 doses of vaccines provided by the government of India will arrive. We have ordered 4 lakh doses from the state government side,” informed the health minister. He also claimed that as per data lockdown is helping in the battle against Covid 19 in the Itanagar capital region (ICR).

The minister also reviewed preparedness with all deputy commissioners, district medical officers and superintendent of police on Thursday whole day right from morning 9 AM till late evening through video conferencing.

“We reviewed the availability of beds, oxygen supply, medicines and manpower. The preparedness is good so far,” he said.  

The health minister also informed that organizations like Tata Trust, IOC and ICIC Bank have offered help with oxygen concentrators to the state government. 

He also inform that the state government has release fund for Covid management to all district, Directorate of health services and TRIHMS.

It is to mention that as per available documents the department of disaster management vide order no-DDM/SDRF-4/2020-21 dated May 11 2021 has approved and sanction an amount of Rupees Twenty Nine crore fifteen lakhs (Rs. 29,15,00,000) through public financial management system (PFMS) from SDRF fund in favour of Directorate of Health & Family services for clearing of pending liabilities of Covid 19 related expenditure in TRIHMS. The disaster management department has approved and sanction an amount of Rupees seventeen crore fifty seven lakhs ( Rs. 17,57,00,000) through PFMS from SDRF & Relief to DHS being fund for procurement of Rapid Antigen Test (RAT)  kits while the department of disaster management  and Relief has approved and sanction an amount of Rupees Nineteen crore twenty eight lakhs and twenty nine thousand from SDRF fund to several deputy commissioner of various district of state to clear the liabilities of Covid 19 activities in the district for the year 2020-21, 2021-22
