ITANAGAR, Dec 27 : The 12-hour bandh called by the All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU) over the APPSC paper leakage case saw its full fledged effect within the capital complex with thousands of protestors walking through the National Highway arterial roads even in rural areas.
The dusk to dawn bandh call came into effect from 5 am to 5 pm which was supported by business communities by keeping shop’s shuttering down throughout the day. Commercial and private vehicles were off the road, attendance in the government and private officers were almost nill, schools and college were closed hardly few examination including IGNOU and others were held, almost all types of transport were off the road. Few vehicle of magistrate, police on duty and security personnel and few person going to attend the examination and hospital were seen and almost the roads were deserted look.
The security forces were deployed to restrain any kind of untoward incident, however there were no reports of any property loss or damages during the bandh call, said SP Jimmy Chiram.
“In overall bandh call by ANSU went off peacefully, where protestors also cooperated with the security personnel,” said Chiram.
It is to be mentioned that the home minister Bamang Felix on Monday appealed to the ANSU to call off their bandh call, however the union denied and continued with the 12 hours bandh call.
The minister said that the state government is responding to the 13 points charter of demands and the SIC and CBI is investigating the paper leakage issue.
According to Minister Bamang Felix, the APPSC debacle is not only an error or a mistake; rather, it is a flagrant attack on the government’s confidence in the system.
The ANSU president Nabam Dodum while appreciated the common public, private schools, coaching institute and business community and general public for their cooperation
He also said that if the demands of ANSU are not addressed by the state government, then they would intensify the democratic movement in due course of time after due consultation of the ANSU central executive committee.
As per report tire were burned in few places in some parts of capital complex and few vehicle were damaged.
