5 Decomposed bodies of 19 missing labourers found in Kurung Kumey: DC Nighee Bengia

ITANAGAR, Jul 28: Out of the 19 missing labourers, the search and rescue team has so far rescued 10 labourers while 5 decomposed bodies have been found in the stiff and deep dense forest between Huri to Tapa, said Kurung Kumey Deputy Commissioner Nighee Bengia today.

Deputy Commissioner Bengia in a statement said another labourer, identified as Hikmat Ali, died after drowning in the Furak river.

A total of 19 labourers went missing on July 5, 2022 from BRO road at Huri under Damin circle in Kurung Kumey district.

Now, the death toll has increased to 6 and as per the statement of the rescued labourers, the recovered bodies were that of Forizul Haque alias Turu, Moijal Haque, Sohar Ali alias Rustom Ali and Abul Hussain, the DC informed. However, the sixth body is yet to be identified.

The bodies were located on different dates and different locations, the DC informed.

While one body was recovered on July 25, 2022, 3 bodies were recovered on July 26 and one was retrieved on Thursday, he stated.

“Due to many reasons all the decomposed dead bodies could not be retrieved. Only photos and videos have been taken by the search and rescue operation team which can’t be shared. IAF chopper, which joined the rescue team on July 23, 2022, suspended the operation due to inclement weather and the IAF chopper is still waiting for good weather,” Bengia stated.

The Kurung Kumey Deputy Commissioner also joined the search and rescue operation at Huri on July 26, 2022 and inspected the places in the jungle where 7 rescued labourers crossed the Furak river and the place where one Wajid Ali was supposed to be remained, he said.

The Deputy Commissioner physically monitored the search and rescue operation and directed the police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the local teams to continue the search and rescue operation till all the remaining missing labourers are found alive or dead, Bengia said.

After returning from Huri, the DC also inspected the 5 rescued labourers at the District Hospital Koloriang and inquired about their health conditions.
