Activist Sol Dodum threatens to launch foot march to Delhi

ITANAGAR, May 05: Activist.   Sol Dodum today threatened to launch a foot march from the State capital, Itanagar to the national capital in Delhi if his demands are not fulfilled by the State government by May 10, the day when the fact-finding committee is supposed to submit its report.Addressing his supporters from all walks of life during a massive protest rally from Akashdeep to the Tennis Court in IG Park here on Thursday, Dodum said, “As declared I will wait till May 12 morning next.”

“I will go ahead with my next steps depending on the government’s action on my demands, which are supposed to be taken by May 10,” he added.

Holding banners and placards in their hands demanding fulfillment of the issues raised by the activist immediately, one of his supporters said, “If the State government can transfer an officer over night on political will using its power, then those officers (whose transfer has been demanded by Dodum) should be transferred for a free & fair investigation.

”Apart from his other demands including proper drinking water supply in Seppa township, the activist has sought transfer of both incumbent East Kameng Deputy Commissioner (DC) & the PHED Executive Engineer based at Seppa and a high-level probe into the atrocities he received on April 12 last..

“The PHE Department and the district administration recently started water connection works, but the rest of the demands should also be fulfilled,” said the activist’s supporters.

Several organisations and market welfare committees and others came out to support the activist and joined the rally from Akashdeep to the Tennis court at IG Park.Dodum reiterated before the media that his democratic protest will continue till all the issues raised by him are not addressed.When contacted over the phone, East Kameng Deputy Commissioner Pravimal A Palumatla told Arunachal Front, “Water connection of Kuchi Nallah intake point to the reservoir is in full progress. Rest of the work would be completed as per the timeline set.

While repair and maintenance of the defunct Rapid Sand Filtration (RSF) plant at Macha would be completed by July 24, the augmentation of water supply would be completed by October 22.”
