ITANAGAR, 10 May: The health department is establishment a Corona Triage centre here at Hotel Ashoka in order to determine whether a Covid patient should be admitted to a hospital. The health department is installing required facilities including X Ray machines and the centre is expected to start operation within the next 4 days. Briefing media district medical officer (DMO) Itanagar capital region (ICR) Dr Mandip Perme said triage centre will become first point of reference for Covid 19 patients.
Other facilities which include basic clinical assessment, basic lab testing and radiological test on advice of doctor, provisions of basic treatment kit, oxygen support bed for observation till shifting to DCHC/DCH but all the referred cases should be supported by valid technical justification by doctor. Dr. Perme said.
“Positive cases with asymptomatic/mild will be examined here. Depending upon the nature of the case, the doctors will decide whether to send patients to DCH Chimpu, DCHC Midpu. Covid Care Centre or to home isolation while severe cases will directly be sent to DCH, Chimpu,” informed DMO. Further Dr Perme said the number of positive cases is still high in ICR.
“Positivity rate has not gone down. After 3 or 4 days we will get a fair idea whether lockdown in ICR is having any impact or not,” added Dr Perme. He also said the health department is conducting contact tracing on a regular basis.
“However if we missed out any, I appeal people to contact our rapid response team for contact tracing. There is a manpower issue for contact tracing out but we are working out a solution,” said Dr Perme. The DMO also informed that till date 35000 people in ICR have taken Covid 19 vaccine which include both first and second dose.
