ITANAGAR, The team of capital police recently arrested three cadres of Eastern Naga National Government (ENNG) at about 3:30 pm on 18 December last, from Hotel Kosing, Naharlagun with several incriminating documents and arms and live rounds. Informed the City SP Jimmy Chiram.
SP Jimmy Chiram while briefing the newsperson here at Itanagar Police station informed that one Jahirul Rahman, aged 30 years of Dibrugarh, one Awang Hadong aged 28 of Lazu, Tirap and one Gangkhah Gangsa aged 24 of Longding who were disguised as civilians were attempting extortion from public leaders and officers.
Chiram further informed that the three were staying at Hotel Kosing since 15th December last, one handgun, 10 rounds of live ammunition, one wancho machete, one knife, Rs 49,630 cash, two numbers of extortion demand notes, documents and a Tata Nexon (red colour) were seized from their possession, added SP Chiram.
Chiram also informed that a case has been registered against the trio at the Itanagar PS on extortion and arms Act charges, currently the three are under interrogation and they have revealed that they work for ENNG and had extorted money upon the instructions from Tamai Wancho, General Secretary ENNG.
SP Chiram congratulated the whole team on the successful arrest of the militants, appreciating the efforts of Capital Police. Further investigation is on as of now. SP added.
In an another incident, on 18th December, last the women police team of Itanagar Women PS has been able to arrest an absconding rape accused, Jyotiram Doley from Mishing Gaon, Lakhimpur, Assam, informed SP Chiram.
On 19 April, last an FIR was received from Gumto area of Papum Pare district, the accused was absconding and was accuse of a rape case of 13 year old girl accordingly a case was at the Itanagar, Women Police Station under the POCSO act.
The accused was absconding arrest in Assam since the beginning informed SP Chiram, later, sources were engaged in Assam and on Saturday last after a tip off from a local source, the women police team led by OC, WPS, Pungming Taku and her team, a raid was conducted and the arrest was made, added Chiram.
