ITANAGAR, JUNE 22 ; The capital police conducted a raid in a house at BN Colony, Chimpu and seized 08.93 grams of suspected “Heroin”, 29 nos. of tubes, 01 mobile handset, 01 scooty and cash. Informed officials.
The Itanagar SDPO Kamdam Sikom informed that on 19/06/2021, acting on a tip off, a team led by him, Inspr. Phassang Simi, SI N. Nishant, SI S.K. Jha with Special Magistrate (Narcotics) under the direct supervision of Capital SP Jimmy Chiram and was able to recover the substances and also apprehended a person in the connection. Informed in a message.
Two were apprehended from the BN Colony and accordingly the case registered vide Itanagar PS Case No.254/2021 u/s 21(b)/27 NDPS Act. They are now under police remand and investigation being taken up to nab the other culprits associated with the illegal trading of drugs in the Capital Complex. SDPO said.
Again, on 21.06.21, raids were conducted at different locations in Itanagar area with the help of Arunachal Pradesh Anti Drug Association. A team of officers OC Inspr. P Simi, SI K Tacha has conducted raids at Small Gumtis near Todo Hotel and Gohpur Tinali , Itanagar area and seized 90 packets (weighing 1.706kg) of suspected Cannabis (ganja) from three gumti (shops). Two female and one male shopkeepers were arrested from the respective places. In this regard, Itanagar PS Case No.258/2021 u/s 20(b)(A)(B) NDPS act and Case No.259/2021 u/s 20(b)(A) NDPS act has been registered and investigation being taken up.
It is pertinent to be mentioned here that during Covid-19 lockdown, there was sudden rise in peddling of NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) cases and rigorous raids were conducted to stop this social evil. While intensifying the action against drug peddling cases, a total 10 Cases in Itanagar PS have been registered in the last two months. Besides, all 16 persons have been arrested and 322.09 grams suspected Heroin/ Brown Sugar ang 1.706 kg Cannabis having market value of more than 25 lakhs were seized.
Sikom further appeals to the denizens of twin city to join hands to nab such unscrupulous type miscreants indulged in drug peddling or consuming cases on every nook and corners and jeopardize the future of the new generation.
