AAPSU File formal FIR against BRO, served 10 days ultimatum for tendering public apology

ITANAGAR, JUNE 22 ; The All Arunachal Pradesh students union (AAPSU) file formal FIR against the Chief Engineer, EE (Civil) SO-II (Plg & Brs) and other officials of project Arunank, c/o 99 APO of Border Road Organisation (BRO) at Itanagar police station

The AAPU team after filing the FIR at Itanagar PS briefed the media at the police station premises this afternoon. AAPSU President Hawa Bagang informed the press that the Defense Minister of India Rajnath Singh officially inaugurated a 20 KM road widening
project undertaken by the Border Roads Organization (B.R.O) at Kimin under Papum Pare District, Arunachal Pradesh. However, after the program was over, it was brought to our knowledge that before the inauguration cum dedication of the said road widening project by the union minister of Defence the name of our state “Arunachal Pradesh” was omitted from all the milestones including the foundation stones, notice boards etc. in Kimin (more particularly in the RTC, ITBP complex) by way of covering the same with white paper sticker is a matter of great concern and it has touched the sentiment to the people of Kimin and state as a whole. Bagang said.

In an official communication made with the Deputy Commissioner of Papum Pare District by the office of the Chief Engineer, Project Arunank, PIN-931719, C/O 99 APO vide
letter no. 22004/Bridge Gen/25/E2 Pig Dated 12 June 2021, one Pramod Kumar, EE (Civ), SO-II (Pig & Brs) has mentioned RTC (ITBP) originally & officially located in Kimin under Papum Pare, Arunachal Pradesh as located at Bilgarh, Assam. This despite the B.R.0 and the ITBP having their official establishment clearly inside the territorial jurisdiction of Arunachal Pradesh since last many years. This act has created resentment among the indigenous people of state. he said.

There are every chances of fresh tensions along the inter-state borders of both Arunachal Pradesh and Assam due to the deliberate antics and intentional steps taken by the Border Roads
Organization (B.R.O) and wrongful portrayal of the exact location of the place where the said project was inaugurated which is Kimin, Arunachal Pradesh. The AAPSU President said.

We have file FIR today at Itanagar PS against the BRO and wanted that the law will take its own course of action and at the same time we serve ten days ultimatum to the BRO authority to make unconditional apology to the people of Arunachal Pradesh or else we shall start statewide protest and agitation against and democratic movement against the BRO and also move to state government to recommended for CBI enquiry into the whole episode. Bagang added.

It is known fact that the several roads of state have been constructed by the BRO which a government agency and how many tenures has been passed but it take dozens of years to complete on the other hands the several pvt firms has also taken such works and completed as per time and tenures and allege that there might a gross irregularities and malpractice by which the roads projects has been revised for time and again and take several years to complete the several roads and demanded enquiry.

I feel that the incident happened at Kimin by the BRO is an act of criminal & dishonest conduct including concealment and misrepresentation of facts and also for their criminal attempts to incite communal tensions between the people of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam and demanded immediate action.

Meanwhile, the General Secretary speaks on the recent visit of AAPSU team at Kathan in Lohit district where Chakmas has been alleged to create law and order problems related to land and Kimin township visit on Monday.

The AAPSU Vice president Mije Taku also spoke briefly on the distribution of stipend and scholarship to more than thirty thousand student community of state studying in various parts of state and country. Due to technical problems few of them might have not received the scholarship and urge them to verify their accounts and other details submitted.
