Gumkum Gumpa celebrated with traditional gaiety and fanfare but in low profile

ITANAGAR, APRIL 25: The Gumkum Gumpa’ festival of Puroik community with traditional gaiety and fanfare here at Nyokum Lapang ground of the state capital but in low profile due to Covid SoP.

This year the festival has been celebrated from April 20 to 25 which concluded today The five days long programme witness several programs of literary competition, group discussion, cultural programmes, traditional and other games and po0rts and other agenda but all the programmes were performed in low profile as the gathering was very less in compare to several years of its celebration.

Addressing the closing function, Advisor to Chief Minister  and former state BJP President Tai Tagak said that we need to retrospect ourselves and start with working with dedication and sincerity with a determination to gain success.
When we call for development we should first try to know about ourselves and need to change ourselves and our mindset so that we have to get our due regards and respect and identity but first we have to walk ahead with a determination for development. He said.
The environment in and around the most important components like air, water and food are the basic need of a human being and due to which our livelihood continues but we can learn to earn with sincerity and devotion. For earning we need skill education and general education so it is the era of education and skill so he urges all to send their wards to school and college and also send to learn skill to become professionals and earn for family and society. Tagak said.

We have to know about our original identity and genesis so that our identity are intact and come together, unite together and walk together and work together for rapid development of Puroik community as par with other tribes of state.
He urged upon the puroik community leaders to prepare data of the educated, employed and unemployed population and discuss the needs of the community as per the progress and development of state and country. Tagak said.
” Do not discourage yourself but try to motivate the younger generation who are our future and our future can only progress if our children join the mainstream and educate and learn skills and become professional and also earn for economy and sustainable development.

He further urged upon the community leader to discuss several issues after the Covid pandamc and assured to take up all the issues pertaining to the APWB and also otherwise. 

Guest of honour, IMC Ward Corporator Gyamar Tuvin said that “god help those who help themselves”, so the time has come and one should not depend on other and start for working for their love one and it is natural the leaders and government will push them with welfare measures and urge the community leaders to change the mindset for development and welfare of the tribe as a whole. He said.

It is to mention that Gumkumn gumpa literally means get together and sit together and after the government of India orders the community residing in various parts of state. The 1st festival celebrated in East Kameng and this year’s celebration for reconciliation. It is celebrated from April 15 to 25 in six districts where the community are residing.
The festival is being celebrated for peace, progress and development of the community and other wellbeing.
