ITANAGAR, JULY 2: The Itanagar-Hollongi NH-415 road opened for light vehicles on Saturday after Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso and Doimukh MLA Tana Hali Tara directed the Highway authority to open it for light vehicles.
The Itanagar local MLA Techi Kaso alongwith Doimukh MLA Tana Hali Tara and Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner Sachin Rana on Friday inspected the Itanagar-Hollongi (NH-415) road which is closed for the last four days due to massive landslide due to heavy rainfall.
It is to mention that the 19 KM road stretch between Itanagar-Hollongi was closed down by the Capital Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom on request of the Highway Executive Engineer, Naharlagun Highway division Nirjuli due to massive landslides at multiple locations triggered by downpour. As per Highway department the landslide occurred at 16 places some of which were massive and the road formation at three locations were also washed away.
MLA Techi Kaso and Tana Hali Tara visited almost all the damaged portion and landslide affected stretch of road and also inspected the washed away formation of road with the DC Sachin Rana and Highway Executive Engineer Bini Pelan and Nengbia Tedi.
Speaking to media, the Itanagar MLA Kaso informed that this showed the lack of concern of the higher authority of MoRTH, Regional Officer (RO) Itanagar region who are at Tezpur who should come to Itanagar is hardly 150 KM and carry out the exact verification and can get the ground report. But instead of inspecting the same they may visit after few months when the road will be temporary restored and minor rectification would be done they will come and visit and raise several query and the condition of the road continue to be same for years and this the reason that the road are not properly maintained for years together. He observed.
The people of capital complex and thousands of people of Balijan circle and others who prefer the Itanagar-Hollongi road for all purpose are facing lots of inconvenience and therefore the road need to be opened for plying of atleast light vehicle from Saturday onwards and directed them to fully restored for smooth traffic movement of all types of vehicle in few days. The MLA further appealed to all citizens of the capital complex in particular and state as a whole who are residing near the bank of river and down below the mountain to remain vigilant form the flood and landslide prone area to remain safe and secure from loss of life and property.
Earlier on Thursday Kaso also visited several parts of the capital complex affected by flood and landslide and met the affected people. He also condoled the demise of precious life in the nature fury recently in the capital complex and other parts of the state.
