ITANAGAR, Jan 03: With the State Assembly and Lok Sabha elections nearing in Arunachal Pradesh, the political parties are gearing up for the polls and have started announcing candidates.
The Janata Dal (United) has announced the name of Ruhi Tagung Rughu, President of the Arunachal Pradesh State Janata Dal (United) as its party candidate for the Arunachal West parliamentary constituency in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024.
In a statement, Janata Dal (United) General Secretary Afaque Ahmad Khan said the Janata Dal (United) shall also be fighting the Assembly elections, which is also scheduled to be held simultaneously along with 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
“This announcement is being made as directed by party President Nitish Kumar,” Khan added.
Ruhi Tagung Rughu, son of Late Ruhi Tali of Loby Colony, Itanagar, was the President of Itanagar Autorickshaw Welfare Association in 1996.
He was earlier associated with the Youth Congress and served as the President of the City Youth Congress Committee in 2001.
He then shifted his allegiance to the BJP and served as the President of BJP Yuva Morcha Arunachal Unit, informed sources.

Ruhi Tagung Rughu also served as the President of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Federation.The Arunachal West parliamentary constituency is currently represented by Union Earth Sciences Minister Kiren Rijiju.
