Nyishi Nyokum Yulllo festival-2024 preparation gear-up in capital complex

ITANAGAR, JAN 3 : Nyishi is the largest tribe of Arunachal Pradesh and they celebrated three major festival which include Nyokum, Longte and Boori boot. With the new year celebration began the members of the festival celebration began to prepare for its celebration.

The Nyokum Yullo celebration committee here at Nyokum Lapang also began its rehearsal to began its activities for the 44th Nyokum Yullo festival celebration in Itanagar the capital city of state with great enthusiasm and fanfare and rituals and traditional attire. 

The celebration commission who was recently elected/selected under the Chairmanship of Lokam Nai on Wednesday interacted with his team members and executive members of the celebration committee at Nyokum Lapang ground in presence of the leaders of various groups, local committee, Nyokum Lapang welfare committee members, several nyubus, Nigiks and others. 

The 44th Nyokum Yullo celebration committee, Nyokum Lapang, Chairman  Lokam Nai said that the festival should be celebrated by all irrespective of tribe, clan and religion. The Nyokum festival is one of the biggest festival of Nyishi tribe of state and its showcase the high traditional value and rich cultural heritage of the society. since due to modernization celebration of tribes festival is needed to protect our tradition, culture, language and the very important is our tribal identity can be preserved by such celebration and our local activities. He said.

Our culture, festival, traditional and language are our identity and we must protect and preserved it and everyone has to join in such celebration without any discrimination. He said.

To began with 2024 Nyokum festival celebration here, today selection of main priest was out of total 40 nomination who will be main priest for the celebration has been done. Some other rituals were also performed on the occasion which including few rituals for the successful celebration of the Nyokum festival in Itanagar. He said.

 I on behalf of the committee would like to appeal all including the youths who are our future to actively take in all the indigenous festival, local and traditional activities which include the local language, scripts local food, traditional dress which signify our tradition and culture and our identity. Added Lokam Nai.

The IMC Corporater and former Chairman of the committee Yukar Yaro who was present on the occasion also share her words of advice to the new committee and handed over the files and other documentary of the committee to take forward the worms of the celebration committee. She ask the members to work hard so that the Nyokum festival is successfully and smoothly celebrated and people from all section take art and enjoy one of the biggest festival of the Nyishi tribe of state and equally promote our festival to world over. She added.

She also congratulated the entire team of the 44th Nyokum Yullo celebration committee members which include Chairman Lokam Nai, Vice Chairperson Yapung Dolo, Secretary Khyoda Tanik, Asstiant Secretary Taring Rajen.

It is to mention that the Nyokum festival is being celebrated on February 26 every year and people across the all section of society take part with full traditional attire.
