Major parts of Itanagar city still suffering water supply problems for last 14 days. 11 tankers etc deployed: Mangku

ITANAGAR, July 20 : If the weather remains the same, Poma water supply pipeline which was broken down on 6 & 7 July last would be restored temporarily within a week, said Executive Engineer (EE) PHED Itanagar Division, Tadar Mangku.

The men and machines have already reached breakage points and doing day & night works. The restoration work is in warfooting. he added.

Since the breakdown of the Poma main water supply line of 400 mm dia and 200 mm dia, the department is supplying water to the various areas of Itanagar with Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Senki view, said Mangku.

Earlier the PHED was supplying water 11 MLD water form Poma and 7 MLD from Senki view WTP but after breakdown of Poma line there s a heavy load on deptt to mitigate the supply and on 7 MLD water was being supplied through existing WTP at Senki view. He said.

The newly constructed another WTP at the same venue is completed and waiting for inauguration. In view of the dire need of water supply we have started supplying water of 7 MLD to the denizens and the time of delivery has also been increased. He said.

In fact departments have started to supply water through WTP to the consumers to mitigate the requirements whose inauguration is yet to be made officially, Though existing 7 MLD and another newly constructed 7 MLD WTP construed under AMRUT schemes adds to 14 MLD water but also those area which are being covered by Poma line are suffering and they may suffer till it is restored temporarily or permanently. informed Mangku.

Stating from two WTP of Senki view as of now 14 Megaliter Per day to meet up the requirements of water, which is not enough for consumers, he said that 11 numbers of water tankers and Tata mobiles have been diploid so far.

“I request the consumers to use their private tanker to fetch water from Senki view WTP for which department will make available water for them if the PHED deployed does not cover or able to reach even they are round the clock under distribution,” Said Mangku and appealed to the general public where water has dried up due to disruption of pipeline at Poma to cooperate with the department and workers till the permanent restoration of pipeline.
