Guwahati, July 6: A crucial review meeting on the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) [SBM (G)] was held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Guwahati. The meeting was chaired by Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, the Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Government of India, and was attended by various high-ranking officials.
The focus of the meeting was to assess the progress made in the implementation of the flagship schemes, JJM and SBM (G), in the northeastern states. Minister PHE&WS Etc Wangki Lowang was present, representing the region and highlighting the efforts made by his department in achieving the objectives of these schemes.
The meeting saw the participation of secretaries and officers from the Government of India, as well as the Ministers of Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) from all the northeastern states. The Managing Directors of JJM and SBM (G) were also in attendance, along with other officials.
During the session, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat emphasized the importance of completing the flagship schemes within the given stipulated time. He urged all the ministers in charge of JJM and SBM (G) to expedite the implementation process and ensure that the benefits of these initiatives reach every household in the region.
The review meeting provided a platform for sharing best practices, discussing challenges, and identifying strategies to overcome them. It emphasized the need for effective coordination among all stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of JJM and SBM (G) in the northeastern states.
The Union Minister appreciated the efforts made by the northeastern states in implementing these schemes and assured them of continued support from the central government. He stressed the significance of providing clean drinking water and improved sanitation facilities to every citizen, contributing to the overall development and well-being of the region.
