NMOPS members to wear black badges to protest against NPS

ITANAGAR, Dec 28: Arunachal Pradesh state unit of the National Movement for Old Pension Scheme (NMOPS) has decided to undergo democratic movement by wearing black ribbon while working in office and continue demanding the implementation of old pension scheme for employees.

The democratic movement will be carried out against the state government and to press its demand for implementation of old pension scheme. The democratic movement shall began from 1st to 7th January 2023 and during protest every government employee will be wear the black ribbon in the marks of protest, said Dakme Abo , President NMOPS.

Addressing the mediapersons here at Arunachal Press club  (APC) Abo said that the NPS was implemented in the state on 2018 by making fools to the all the government employees and when we came to know about the realities of the NPS then we started raising the voice against the state government on NPS from 2021. The organization has been repeatedly submitting memorandum and reminder letter to state government including the chief minister , Deputy Chief minister and Chief secretary of state and even prime Minister Narendra Modi for conversion of NPS to old pension scheme (OPS) but state government is not ready to list our appeals and state government is even not ready to give us appointment for discussion  on our grievances.  He said.

Our demand and appeals are repeatedly denied stating that it is central subject, where as various state governments like Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh have already banned NPS and implemented old pension scheme (OPS). Since, our state is 100

Percent tribal tax Free State, there is no need to implement New pension Scheme, it said.

We will go for protest against state government by wearing black ribbon during working hours to show our protest against the state government to press them to think for our genuine grievances. He said.

Earlier highlighting the difference between NPS and Old pension scheme Ojing Payang , IPR Secretary NMOPS state unit said that when we gone through the rules of NPS, we observed several negativity which is very dangerous for government employees , there is 10% deduction of employee monthly salary for NPS, where as there is no any deduction system in OPS, GPF is mandatory in OPS, its not mandatory in NPS, the OPS is secured but NPS is fully based on stock exchange pension system and no secured system.

If an employee died there was eligible for family pension in OPS but would not be eligible in NPS. So far 3 employees have death but their family members not getting pension, he claimed.

In OPS the pension payment is given by state government treasury but payment of interest in NPS, give stock exchange (NSDL) and there are many more lacunas are there in NPS system as observed. He added.
