ITANAGAR, 20 May: The health department has started the random testing for Covid 19 in the Itanagar capital region (ICR). Informing this to the media here on Thursday the district medical officer (DMO) ICR Dr Mandip Perme said a flying squad consisting of 3 teams in Itanagar and 2 in Naharlagun started testing in the area from which maximum cases are being reported.
He said positivity rate continues to remain high in ICR. “In the last three days the positivity rate is 14 percent and in the last one week it is 16%. From April 1 to May 19, the overall positivity rate of ICR is 8%. So it is a matter of serious concern as positivity rate continues to remain high,” said Dr Perme. He expressed hope that lockdown will help to bring down the number of cases.
The DMO Perme also informed that 10 teams of contact tracing 5 each for Itanagar and Naharlagun has been constituted.
With regards to vaccination, Dr. Perme informs that the vaccination drive for the aged of 45 years and above shall continue and there is no issue as there is sufficient stock of vaccination for the targeted group. He said adding that the vaccination to the aged group of 18-44 there shall be at two different places and around two hundreds youths can avail the facility on Friday. Dr Perme added.
