Rijiju pays tributes to freedom fighter Matmur Jamoh

PASIGHAT, Aug 20: Union Minister for Law and Justice, Kiren Rijiju is on a three day “Jan Ashirwad Yatra” in the state and accompanied by the state Health &FM Minister Alo Libang, Loksabha MP Tapir Gao, MLAs Kaling Moyong and Ninong Ering and others reached historic Matmur Jamoh Memorial ground, Yagrung, birth place of Jamoh,18 KM off Pasighat on Friday afternoon.

Attending a public meeting here, Rijiju stated that Patriot Jamoh will always be remembered by all Indians for his bravery. The man who refused to bow down to the British rulers and took down British Officer Captain Noel Williamson in 1911. He assured to grant required funds for installation of statue of Legendary Matmur Jamoh and expressed hope that Yagrung could be developed as a tourist destination as the village is full of natural beauty and well connected with the rest parts of the country. The Minister also assured to take all steps with the appropriate authority to give due recognition by the union government to Jamoh as Saheed adding that internal assessment and inquiry will be conducted about the last part of Jamoh’s life (after imprisonment at Kalapani Andaman). His bravery will be included in NCERT books to let our children know the bravery of great warrior Jamoh, he added.

Rijiju, in his address asserted that timely lockdown in the country by the Narendra Modi led government, economic stimulus package march towards “Atmanirvar Bharat” was widely appreciated by one and all when the whole world was reeling from the crisis engendered by the Covid-19 pandemic as was India. He further added that the new edifice of this self-reliant India would be based on five pillars of the economy, infrastructure, demography, technologically driven systems and to strengthen demand and supply chains, with the supply chains being based on local sourcing.

The minister while extending his gratitude to the people of Arunachal Pradesh in particular for their support in effective handling of Covid-19 pandemic and sought Ashirwad (Blessings) from the people to serve the state and the nation in true spirit.

A memorandum was submitted by the President and Secretary of NINO Welfare Society Tasing Jamoh and Ocean Gao during the program at Yagrung.

Later in the evening, Minister Rijiju attended an interactive meeting with prominent CBOs, VOs, NGOs, Youth Organizations and Karyakartas at the CHF Auditorium which was actively participated by the representatives of ABK, BBK, WASE, BBYK, Angun Bedang, Ayang and Green Dreamers.
