Science & Technology deptt Secretary Repo Ronya release “Large Scale Hydro-geomorphological Mapping of Itanagar Capital Town Using Space Technology” emphasis for better utility by PHED and others.

ITANAGAR, DEC 20: The Science & Technology Repo Ronya on Wednesday has release “Large Scale Hydro-geomorphological Mapping of Itanagar Capital Town Using Space Technology” at the regional level workshop here at Block-II, Arunachal Pradesh civil secretariat. He emphasis better use of map, survey for better development of Itanagar city. 

Briefing the media, Secretary Repo Ronya said that Arunachal Pradesh Space Application Centre (APSAC), Itanagar conducted one day workshop on “Large Scale Hydro-geomorphological Mapping of Itanagar Capital Town Using Space Technology” at APSAC conference hall. It was an important workshop and everyone present has shared their experiences, view, suggestion and guidance to each others. it was equally important to say that several top level scientist and officers of Space application centers of the region has joined through video conference and shared necessary inputs on the works of  mapping and case study. All these case study and works would be utilized by the officers and officials of various department for planning process for better development of Itanagar city. Said Secretary.

The Project Report prepared by the APSAC has formally released on the occasion and handed over to the State PHE&WS department which may be utilized for JJM and other schemes. The Secretary added.

APSAC, Director Dr.H.Dutta. elaborated the purpose of the day long workshop and share the upto date mapping of the Itanagar capital complex and other major important activities of the APSAC. 

Dr Dutta highlighted on need of Large Hydro-geomorphological mapping and initiation of the project with financial support from the State government and technical guidance from NRSC, Hyderabad. 

This project “Large Scale Hydro-geomorphological Mapping of Itanagar Capital Town Using Space Technology” is the first of its kind in North Eastern Region. Director Dr. H Dutta added.

APSAC  Sr. Scientist A, S. Deb presented the detailed presentation through power point of the project on thelarge-scale hydro-geomorphological mapping of Itanagar town area, completed by APSAC. 

Dr.R.Saha, Sr. Scientist, NRSC presented on detailed ground water scenario of India and Space technology application for Ground water mapping. Secretary(S&T) appreciated the large scale Hydro-geomorphological mapping work taken up by APSAC and urged to take up this project in other areas of Arunachal Pradesh.

Dr. I.C Das of NRSC delivered a speech on Hydeogeomorphological mapping and appealed all the north eastern states to take up similar studies on large scale Ground water mapping, as taken up by APSAC with the standard methodology approved by NRSC, DoS. 

The workshop was attended by the Regional Director, Central Ground Water Board(CGWB), North Eastern region, Guwahati, Dr. B. Ray, HoD, Geo-science Division, North Eastern Space Application Centre (NESAC), Dr. S. Singh, Scientists from National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), Department of Space, Govt. of India Hyderabad and Hydrogeologist and Engineers from Public Health Engineering and Water Supply (PHE&WS) department, Director and representatives from all the NE Remote Sensing & Space Application Centres and the Group Head of Geosciences Division of NRSC, Dr.I.C. Das attended the meeting on virtual mode.
