TCL Inter-District Badminton Competition Cultivates Young Talent

Changlang, September 8: The Assam Rifles TCL Inter-District Badminton Championship reached an exhilarating conclusion on September 8, 2023, at the Officers Badminton Club in Changlang, Arunachal Pradesh. This annual sporting event aimed to scout and nurture budding talents within the age group of 12 to 16 and prepare them for the Arunachal Pradesh State Level Badminton Competition.

The week-long TCL Inter-District Changlang Badminton matches, held from August 31 to September 8, 2023, attracted a total of 397 participants, including 225 young boys and 172 girls from three districts. The event featured Boys Singles and Girls Singles categories for age groups U-14 and U-16, fostering healthy competition and sportsmanship among the youth.

The climactic event on September 8 was presided over by Brig Swarn Singh, VSM, DIG, 25 Sect, Assam Rifles, and witnessed the presence of distinguished guests, including Col Nikhil Pawar, Comdt, Changlang Bn, IAS Sunny K Singh, DC Changlang, and the District Sports Officer Changlang. Eager parents of the young athletes filled the stands, exuding pride and enthusiasm for their children’s participation.

The Assam Rifles, committed to promoting sports and instilling the spirit of healthy competition, awarded cash prizes of Rs 10,000 to the winners and Rs 6,000 to the runners-up in each category. The felicitations were made by the chief guest, Brig Swarn Singh, during the award ceremony.
